Combined transport is a special form of intermodal freight transportation, for which load units such as containers, swap bodies or semi-trailer trucks are transported by rail or on waterways over a longer distance. The truck is only used for a short section on the road to transport the containers and swap bodies to the cargo terminal by rail or on an inland waterway vessel, or to collect and deliver it at the place of unloading.
